Rare opportunity: I’m hiring a Senior Director of Narrative.
Almost 100 applications in 24 hours, from one LinkedIn post.
Some of the best people I know read this newsletter, so before this seat fills, I want you to see it.
Storied builds narrative as infrastructure: a company’s language, managed like a code base. Our clients include VC and PE funds, enterprise SaaS, startups raising capital, growth stage firms, global life sciences, and civic ventures.
The role:
Co-facilitate sessions with me and our executive clients
Run the weekly cycle on narrative, messaging, and client artifacts
Work with our narrative AI stack to improve how you think, build, ship
Ensure every client deliverable is high-craft, executive-ready
Coach and help manage two other members of our client team
Help improve and spread our open tools, like Storied AI MCP
Remote, on retainer, no business development
Part time, 20 hours a week
The share of LinkedIn job postings asking for a “storyteller” grew 2x last year, to 70,000 listings according to the Wall Street Journal. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Netflix, and Microsoft are all hiring these roles. Those seats tell one company’s story. This one builds the picks and shovels for the Narrative Architect as a new category of storytelling professional.
Our role is built for a senior comms leader who’s left an in-house role to run their own practice. You’re a strong operator and C-suite partner. You just want to do the work, not have to sell it.
If that’s you, apply here.
Or share this with a person or two who come to mind.
If we hire your referral, I’ll send you $500 of the world’s rarest craft chocolate. If you know me, you know how holy f*ckballs that gift will be.
By 2029, the most sought-after operator in comms will be the one who can run narrative as infrastructure.
Michael
P.S. Not looking for a role, but want to become a Narrative Architect yourself? Hit reply and type one word: architect.

Running narrative as infrastructure? Cool. Been saying story is infrastructure for a while. Only 2 more years for everyone to notice!
